Welcome to Mumbra Connect (“we”, “our”, or “the Platform”), an open civic technology initiative operated at https://mumbraconnect.adyanshaikh.in serving residents, visitors, and civic representatives of Mumbra–Kausa, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC Prabhag Samiti 4), Maharashtra, India.

Your privacy is our utmost priority. This policy discloses our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of information when using our native mobile applications (Google Play Store and Apple App Store) and web platform.

1. Mobile Device Permissions

Our native Android and iOS mobile applications request only permissions strictly required to provide civic grievance reporting:

• Camera & Photo Gallery: Used exclusively when you choose to take or upload a photo or video documenting a civic issue (e.g., road pothole, sewer overflow, or streetlight malfunction). We never access your photo library without your explicit action.
• Precise Location (GPS): Used solely when tagging the exact municipal coordinates of an issue on the Mumbra ward map or locating emergency healthcare facilities nearest to you. Location tracking is never run continuously in the background.
• Push Notifications: Used to alert citizens when their reported grievance advances status (e.g. from Submitted to In Progress or Resolved), and to notify elected ward corporators when a new issue is submitted in their jurisdiction. You can disable notifications anytime in your device system settings.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with Mumbra Connect:

• Civic Complaints: Title, description, selected category (Roads, Water, Garbage, etc.), locality, landmark address, photos, and geographical coordinates.
• Optional Reporter Details: Name, phone number, and email address if provided voluntarily for tracking and verification.
• Representative & Official Records: Publicly available electoral data from Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) including representative names, designated ward numbers, and official office contacts.

3. How We Use & Retain Your Information

We process data for the following lawful civic purposes:

• Forwarding civic grievance dossiers to the relevant TMC Ward 26, 30, 31, 32, or 33 corporators and municipal offices.
• Generating public, anonymized civic resolution metrics (such as average resolution times and ward resolution scoreboards).
• Preventing spam, fraudulent reports, and abuse of the civic grievance mechanism.

We retain complaint records to maintain historical municipal accountability. Anonymous complaint submissions contain no personally identifiable records.

4. Data Protection & Security

All network communication is strictly encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS / HTTPS (256-bit encryption). Database access is credentialed and isolated. Administrative dashboards and representative portals require multi-factor role authentication.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We use select trusted service providers to run platform infrastructure:

• Cloudflare / Vercel: Secure hosting and CDN delivery.
• PostgreSQL (Neon / Supabase): Encrypted relational cloud database.
• Resend: Transactional email service for forwarding official municipal grievance dossiers.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) / Apple APNs: Secure mobile push notification dispatch.
